Pengaruh Dosis Pupuk Urea Terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Hasil Jagung Manis (Zea mays L. Saccharata)
Abstract
Sweet corn (Zea mays L. saccharata) is becoming an increasingly important commodity in the development of the agricultural sector. The demand for sweet corn tends to increase both in the domestic and international markets. The challenge of sweet corn farming is to always maintain its availability in order to meet market needs. In general, the technology that can be used to increase sweet corn productivity is the right fertilization technique. The initial phase of sweet corn plant growth is the vegetative phase which begins after the seeds germinate and lasts until they form male flowers. The vegetative phase can be an initial benchmark for the quality of sweet corn until harvest. The vegetative growth of sweet corn can be optimized by using Urea as one of the important components. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Urea fertilizer doses on the growth and yield of sweet corn plants. This study was conducted using an experimental method with a non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK The experiment consisted of one treatment factor, which was the application of urea fertilizer at five different dosage levels, with each treatment being repeated five times, resulting in 25 experimental plots. The results of the study showed a significant effect on each observed variable. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the optimal urea fertilizer application is 300 kg/ha. Therefore, it is recommended that the cultivation of sweet corn should involve applying urea fertilizer at a dosage of 300 kg/ha.
