Using data from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), we analyze the extent and patterns of player migration, factors driving migration, and the implications for African football development and global soccer power dynamics. Our findings reveal a significant outflow of players from Africa to Europe, with economic disparities, better professional opportunities, and infrastructural gaps driving migration. West Africa emerges as the primary source of migrating players, particularly to European clubs. This trend has adverse effects on the development of local football leagues, reducing the quality of domestic competitions and diminishing the popularity of local leagues among football enthusiasts. To address skill drain and promote the sustainable development of soccer talent in Africa, we propose several strategies, including investing in youth development programs, establishing football academies, strengthening domestic leagues, and offering competitive salaries and incentives to players. By implementing these measures, African countries can retain talent locally, strengthen their leagues, and contribute to the growth and success of African football.
Oluwole Durodolu, Folurunsho Abubarkar, Bolaji David Oladokun, Morakinyo Akintolu Copyright (c) 2024 Oluwole Durodolu https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.unma.ac.id/index.php/ijsm/article/view/9566 Mon, 26 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Improving Learning Outcomes of the Upper Serve Using Problem-Based Introduction (PBI) Learning in Volleyball Games https://ejournal.unma.ac.id/index.php/ijsm/article/view/11114
The problem in this research is the lack of interest of students in participating in physical education lessons students feel bored or fed up with the material taught by the teacher because the teacher only provides basic material without games. Players often act unsportsmanlike, such as trying to injure opponents, not shaking hands after committing a violation, and protesting excessively to the referee. This study aims to develop a soccer training model based on character education in order to improve life skills. The pretest results of the life skills of SSB Putra Karamat students using the character education development model seen based on the aspects of emotional skills, problem solving and decision making, leadership, and respect showed a significant difference with the pretest results of the life skills of SSB Tesa students. Likewise, the posttest results of the life skills of SSB Putra Karamat students differed from SSB Tesa students in measuring the same aspects during the pretest, where the life skills of SSB Putra Karamat students looked better. The implementation of character education (tolerance, discipline, responsibility, and respect) in the soccer training program has a positive impact on the life skills of players. Players can better control their emotions during the match, players can solve problems and make the right decisions, have a leadership spirit, and have a respectful attitude towards other players, referees, officials, and everyone involved in the soccer game. The impact of implementing the character education model in football games provides new innovations to the development of sports education science. Football players need to be equipped with good characters, not only having good basic techniques, prime physical condition, and good playing tactics.
Didin Khoirudin Yusuf, Ribut Wahidi, Oman Hadiana, Boby Agustan Copyright (c) 2024 Didin Khoirudin Yusuf, Ribut Wahidi, Oman Hadiana, Boby Agustan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.unma.ac.id/index.php/ijsm/article/view/10846 Mon, 26 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Influence of Target Games on Shooting Accuracy for Futsal Extracurricular Participants of SMP Negeri 1 Plaosan https://ejournal.unma.ac.id/index.php/ijsm/article/view/10858
The study was conducted due to the lack of focus of the participants during shooting practice, which led to a tendency to rely on strength alone and consequently the accuracy in shooting became off target. This study analyzes various related literatures to understand how the role of PE teachers is influenced by economic factors such as salary, education budget, government policies, and socio-economic conditions of the community. The results of the study indicate that financial support and economic rewards for PE teachers have a positive correlation with the quality of education they provide. This study also reveals the need for fairer and more sustainable policies to improve the welfare of PE teachers, so that they can be more effective in carrying out their duties.
Indrayogi Indrayogi, Intan Primayanti, Soemardiawan Soemardiawan, Nazalus Syobri, Johan Wahyudi Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.unma.ac.id/index.php/ijsm/article/view/11109 Sun, 25 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0700
