Abstract

Principal leadership is one of the factors that can encourage schools to be able to realize the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the school through planned and gradual programs. Principals are required to have adequate management and leadership skills in order to be able to take initiatives and initiatives to improve school quality. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of managerial competence and supervision on teacher performance. In this study, the research method used by the author in this study is the method of empirical study, namely research on empirical facts obtained based on observation and experience. In conducting this research, the writer uses descriptive and verification methods, because of the variables to be examined, the relationship is also aimed at presenting a structured, factual, and accurate description of the facts and the relationship between the variables studied, namely the influence of managerial competence and head supervision. school with teacher performance. The sample in this study were all teachers at three SMPN Banjaran with the technique of taking it by census, that is, the entire population was used as the research sample.The analysis technique used in this study is correlational. This partial correlation analysis is used to determine the strength of the relationship between the correlation of the two variables where the other variables are considered influential to be controlled or made fixed (as control variables). The managerial competence of school principals is generally in a fairly good category. However, there are two indicators that need to be improved, namely the principal can determine school goals realistically by determining measurable criteria and the principal can determine strategic steps to achieve the mission and goals of the school which is the lowest indicator when compared to other indicators. The supervision activities of school principals are generally in the quite good category. However, there are still two lowest indicators, among them the principal observes the teacher in the learning process to obtain data on teacher abilities and weaknesses for the benefit of learning and the principal gives warnings to teachers who behave badly. Teacher performance is generally in the good category. However, there are two indicators that need to be improved, including the teacher making annual and semester programs and the teacher giving students homework assignments. Managerial competence based on the results of hypothesis testing statistically shows a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Principal supervision activities based on the results of hypothesis testing statistically show a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Managerial competence and supervision of principals based on the results of statistical hypothesis testing simultaneously show a positive and significant effect on teacher performance
